lol - that is what mine sounds like. wink
I would recommend a remanufactured axle from your local parts store...there is no sense in replacing them with new or OEM Honda axles because they will go bad again in a few years. I got a quote from CarQuest (local parts store in MD) of ~$65 after core trade. They aren't really hard to get in and out, it seems the toughest part is getting a good hold on the axle and popping it out of the tranny...it took me a crow bar and hammer. Sometimes the axle nut is tough too..spend the $5 on the correct sized socket, have a breaker bar, and some liquid wrench to loosen up the axle and stuff in the spindle (that thing the axle goes thru is called the spindle right??)
Also..something interesting that happened to me recently when I replaced the axle on my GF's Corolla....make sure there is a nut on the axle you are buying!!! Her "new" axle came without a nut and the old nut didn't fit!! eek - when I went back, they stole the nut from another axle, so some other poor sucker that doesn't check will be nutless.
When you get done with yours, come do mine cool

    Happy holidays to you all.

My recent aquisition of a 90 4door lx has not left me disipointed. New tires to handle the ice and snow (no more ditches for me) however I bought the thing knowing the cvs were nearly shot. wondering how much they typicly run and how hard they are to change.

    thanks guys and gals

Yeah, the two toughest things are the spindle nut and the ball joint. I would recomend you either buy/borrow a manual and read up on the process or search the net. You may not want to tackle the job yourself. Get quotes from repair shops. Might be 'cheaper' for you in the long run.

Take car what you get. There's some cheap to buy and unfortunately cheap quality "rebuilt" axles out there. Quality ones should last a good long time. I have 132k on the originals in my car.
